Prom 2006
Date: Adam W. Young
When: April 29, 2006
Where: Wells Fargo Building, Salt Lake City

Starting from the very beginning, I was having a terrible day. I was way stressed. I was frustrated at Bailey because she was going to my senior prom (she graduated last year) and I wasn't. Petty, I know, but it bothered me. So, her boyfriend--Austin--kept trying to call me and I kept ignoring his calls. He called about 12 times before I answered and found out he hadn't eaten all day and wondered if I could bring him some food. I said yes. I spent the next 45 minutes getting food together for him. He called me originally at 3:00 and I ended up delivering his food around 3:45. Friends were picking me up at 4 at my house to go lazer tagging. Being stressed and under a time constraint, I was already frustrated. I walk in talking to Bailey on the phone and I gave Austin his food. He took the phone away and started talking to her. Being miffed more, I tried to grab it from him. That didn't work. I ended up convincing him to hang up. He gave me my phone back then shut me inside the work room and locked the door. I now had about 7 minutes to get back to my house before my ride was there. He finally unlocked it after careful persuasion on my part. I hurried to my car to find the inside covered with rose petals and Hadley--Adam's girlfriend--on the other side. I was completely confused, but I couldn't deal with it right now, or think about it. Bailey was meeting me at my house and I was going to be late. Told Hadley I'd talk to her later about it, and got in my car. At that moment, Adam called and asked me how to get to Austin's work. He was aobut 30 seconds away and I was intent on leaving before he got there, as I was close to tears. I ended up leaving just as he arrived and then speeding to my house, getting there just as Bailey pulled up. Still frustrated at her, I asked her what the heck was going on and she said that she and Hadley did it because they knew I was having a bad day. That topped it off. I tried to be civil and say thank you, but I kept choking. I wasn't at all greatful. I don't enjoy pitty, and thats what I thouht it was. Little did I know it was Adam's doing. I finished cleaning out the rose petals just in time to walk out and hop in the car to go lazer tagging. Just as I was leaving, I recieved a call from my mom. She started yelling at me. See, while I was making Austin lunch, I was suposto be cleaning my room. The yelling continued for a good 10 minutes. I gave Bay a call and luckily she was just leaving my house. I asked her to clean my room, and she did. Lazer tagging took my mind off my day and I finished cleaning my room when I got home. My mother then took me shopping for some last minute things. By that point, I knew Adam was asking me to prom. I came home and my whole room was covered with rose petals. On my bed was a dozen tulips and a note reading: "Bekah, Let me sweep you off your feet. We'll dance the night away. Will you go to prom with me? Adam W. Young".

Fast forward two weeks. It is now the night before prom. I hadn't answered Adam yet, but I rented a top hat and cane. I borrowed Hadley's cardboard cut out of Legolas and put the hat on it and leaned the cane up against it with a note which read: "Roses are red; violets are blue. Wear this hat and can and I'll go with you". Korny, I know, but oh well. And I doorbell ditched him. The next day he picked me up at 11 and we made our way to Lagoon. I was a little nervous about the amount of money he was spending on me. I mean seriously, a pass for lagoon is like 36 bucks. And for two? Geeze. Nonetheless I thanked him and we had so much fun at Lagoon. We went on the Catapult and various other rides. We got home around 4:15 ish and he was picking me up at 5:45. Heh. I got ready with time to spare. He came to the door, I opened it, his jaw dropped and didn't close till he had to smile for pictures. He brought me 2 dozen roses. They were yellow, pink, red, orange and white. Lovely. Absolutly amazing. He kept making comments about how gorgeous I looked, how much he loved my dress, how beautiful I was. Heh. We exited my house, he opened the car door and there were rose petals all over my seat and the floor, along with a single red rose. The same was done for the other 2 girls in my group. And yes, it was his idea. We headed up to the Mikado for Japanese. The food was wonderful! Neither of us had eaten sushi before, and it was amazing! We headed to the Joseph Smith Building for pictures. Heh. Good times. We then went to the dance where we were bombarded by everyone ranging from my english teacher close friends to complete strangers to both of us telling us how good we looked together, how much we matched, and how beautiful I looked. *giggle*. The night consisted of us wandering around and talking with people. We danced a couple dances, then he and I left the dance about 30-45 min early and were going to go on a carriage ride, but they were all closed. So, we ended up walking around Salt Lake for the rest of the time. Oh, I forgot to add that every time I got out of the car, he went to his trunk and gave me a rose. Every time. After the walk, we met up with our group and headed home. We dropped eveyrone off except Mike and headed to Betos to have horchata. We dropped Mike off, vacuumed his car and he took me home. I got home around 1:30-1:45. It was basically the best nigt I've had in a looong time. Hope you all enjoyed this very long description of prom.
